(Photo by Amelia Tawfik). Nyctophilia is a love of darkness, or taking comfort in the dark. It could also mean a preference for darkness. It is not a very popular feeling amongst psychological websites so I have decided to explain it to the best of my ability.
Many people experience nyctophilia at some point in their lives for very interesting psychological reasons, the main reason being that they sometimes need to be alone, to be hidden from the prying eyes of the world, and the darkness surrounding them hides their insecurities and the emotions in their eyes. A person who experiences nyctophilia is called a Nyctophiliac.
It should be clear that Nyctophilia is not a disease or a disorder; if you experience it, you are not abnormal. It is simply a feeling of comfort.
